Christmas 2008

Christmas 08' was spent at home in Houston. Grandpa and Grandmother Smith drove in from KC to help Milo celebrate Christmas. It was a wonderful time spent together!

In an attempt to create a few holiday traditions, Milo sprinkled reindeer food on the front lawn Christmas eve (with Grandmother and Mom), and Mom decorated cookies for Santa. I tried to enlist Milo's help with the decorating of just one cookie, but he ate it.

Christmas morning we opened gifts, and played.

Milo enjoyed having his Grandparents here, so did Mom and Dad. Milo spent some quality time with Grandpa and Grandmother. David and I even had a date night!

On a sad note, Santa Homer bit the dust, on Christmas eve no less. Grandpa and Daddy tried their best at a revival attempt. It appears that the blower motor is "fried". Poor Homie.

Christmas at the gazebo

Today our community association put on "Christmas at the gazebo", an event for children of all ages. The activities included: face painting, cookie decorating, making reindeer food, 2 big jump things, volleyball, and of course Santa Claus. I was clean when I arrived, 20 minutes later I was coated in sugar cookie slurry and face paint. Milo stayed pretty clean, he just wiped his face all over me!

Daddy and Milo

Milo and Dave have some male bonding going on. Dave was trying to help Milo put a puzzle together, Milo just wanted to chew the pieces.

Milo's favorite commercial

The little man likes to shake his groove thang to this commercial. It's a riot. As I played the youtube video he started to dance, and then ran over to the computer to check it out.

Our 19lb Turkey

This Thanksgiving we had dinner with Linda and Wayne. My contribution was a big fat cheesecake. It's hard to tell from the picture, but if you look close enough you just might see a little hand print. The cheesecake was in the refrigerator cooling, and apparently I didn't shut the door fast enough. I little tiny Milo hand swooped in for a taste. No one ever knew, until now. I was able to camouflage the hand print with a mixed berry topping.

I tried my hardest to get Milo to wear a turkey hat that I made him... He would have no part of it. So, I put it on him while he napped! All I wanted was a picture. Here it is, our 19 lb turkey.

Video of this past week

Here is a montage of just a few high lites of this past week. Milo seems to have a twisted sense of humor... wonder where he gets that from?

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was my 36th, and Milo's 14 month B-days. We celebrated with play dates, good food, and trashy TV. Yesterday morning we headed over to Alexander's house for a play date. This was the 1st time the boys got together outside of the LLL meetings. Yesterday evening Milo had a "play date" at Linda and Wayne's house while David treated me to a yummy birthday dinner at Carrabas. Milo was exhausted and in bed by 8, allowing me to watch uninterrupted trashy TV! The season finale of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, and the season opener of the Real Housewives of Orange County.
The birthday fun didn't end there. This morning Milo had another play date at his friend Brant's house. Beth made me a fabulous birthday lunch, as well as Milo. Chicken and shrimp gumbo for me, roasted chicken and veggies for the little man. Milo was a bit whiny, and didn't feel like being social. We cut the date short and headed home. We enjoyed the rest of our lunch at home. Milo tends to clap when he likes something, as you can see from the picture he LOVED his lunch, and me too! It was the best gumbo I've ever had.

I got a bunch of wonderful cards, but one very special card from a very special little man.

Sharing is caring

Monie and Milo sharing food and toys, just a few of the many things they share.

D'oh!

A couple of new acquisitions. You know you're a Mom when you get a mini-van, and an inflatable Christmas lawn ornament all in the same week. D'oh!

Wedding crashers

Our 1st wedding adventure as a family. Last weekend we took a day trip to San Antonio for our friends' wedding (Casey and Staci). Note to self, Milo prefers the reception over the ceremony! We saw very little of the ceremony. The reception was a blast. Milo was the 1st to hit the dance floor, and probably would've been the last to leave if we would've let him.

Check out the video... Milo scores at the reception!

Road Rash

My poor baby had his first bout of road rash. This morning he ate pavement while trying to ride up the driveway. He caught the lip of the driveway with his car and flipped forward. It didn't seem to phase him much. A couple hours later he was riding in the house, and crashed again. Adding more damage to the picture below. He's getting a little too adventurous. Time to surround him with stuffed animals, helmets, knee pads, bite guards, or maybe just a giant hamster bubble.

2008 BMW CCA drive and dine, Fredericksburg TX

This weekend we loaded up the wagon, and took a family fun road trip with the BMW car club. David and I went 2 years ago. This year Milo joined in the fun. The itinerary included a Halloween party Friday night, a hill side drive Saturday followed by dinner, Sunday another drive through the hills back to Houston... stopping outside of Austin to dine at the Oasis. The Oasis is this way cool restaurant over looking lake Travis. Unbelievable scenery, the food stunk, but the scenery was more than worth it!

Milo's first Halloween party!

I swiped Patti's montage from her blog, and put it on mine! That's the way to go... let someone else do all of the leg work, and then take it. Patti hosted today's Halloween play date, and took the best ever pictures. The kids had a blast. Patti's son, John Michael, was an LSU football player. Joyce's boys, Ryan and Adam, were Batman and Robin. Beth's son, Brant, was Superman. Kristin's son, Ethan, was Albert Einstein. Traci's daughter, Annabelle, was a ladybug. Last but not least, we have Dr. Milo.

Pumpkin patch (Houston style)

Milo and John Michael headed to a pumkin patch this morning. They seemed to have a good time, followed by a car ride induced nap, and then lunch!

Almost a month's worth of practice... our little man is all over the place, (empty) ice cream cone and all. His first official steps were 9/29/08.

Milo's Houston Birthday Party!

Due to hurricane Ike, Milo's party was postponed. The party ended up being just a month late! It didn't seem to bother Milo a bit. Here a just a few pics. I'll try and get some video footage, and more pictures up later. The party was a blast. Total head count: 16 adults, 8 children, and 2 buns in the oven (Patti and Joyce).

The pictures ended up in reverse order... Milo did NOT sleep at all during the day, but crashed shortly after everyone left.

A very special visit

We've had the pleasure of having Grandpa Jr, Grandmother Carol, and Great Grandmother Jane visiting us this week. Milo has definitely enjoyed all of the extra special attention!

It's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown!

Milo's first pumpkin, from his Grandmother Carol. He can't figure out why it doesn't bounce like his other balls.

Milo's first race

David participated in the 24 hours of LeMons race, Houston. Milo joined his Grandparents, Great Grandmother, and Mom in cheering his Dad on. Milo seemed to be mesmerized by the racing scene. We might be in trouble!

One year check up

Milo had his one year check up this morning. Here are his latest stats. :
Height 30 1/4" (50-75th percentile)
Weight 18 lbs 11 oz (3-5th percentile)

He is sporting one of his many new outfits in the photos, as well as his new loafers. As if he didn't look enough like David. In this outfit he looks even more like David!

I'm walkin', yes indeed.

Another batch of pictures for Daddy. These include Milo's trip to the zoo with his friend Ali, hanging out with his cousins, a short video of Milo walking, driving the Jeep, and playing outside. These photos are after Milo's 2nd haircut. Thanks to cousin Sarah for finishing what Ginger had started. No more bowl cut for Loyd (from Dumb and Dumber), I mean Milo. This would be the before photo.
These would be the after photos:

Race for the cure

Milo participated in his first charity event, the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. It was a 5k walk (stroller ride for Milo). We joined Milo's uncle Craig, and cousins Colin and Sean for the walk. It was quite an event, nearly 18,000 people participated.

Happpy Birthday Milo!

It's Milo's 1st birthday! We headed to Sears this morning for a photo session, Grammy tagged along. I couldn't resist... had to put his Vans on for the photos shoot. His 1st pair of Vans are a birthday present from Grandmother Carol & Grandpa JR. After Sears Grammy treated us to a yummy breakfast. It's a good day!

Milo's 1st haircut

Milo went with Papa to the barber shop, for his 1st haircut. He started out fine, but ended up crying. Papa's barber Ginger trimmed up the fringe on Milo, and Papa too. Here are the before, during, and after photos.

Notice the blue all over Milo's onsie. Ginger gave Milo a blue sucker for being a good boy. Another brilliant idea of mine was to let him try it!
